Who We Are:
The CAPE AND ISLANDS ART EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION (CCIAEA) was founded in 2003 as a collaborative effort between prospective, current and retired art educators and their supporters and the Cape Cod Museum of Art. Led by a volunteer advisory committee representing the diversity of our community and the CCMA Director of Education, Linda McNeill-Kemp, the association represents a cross-section of the art education community on the Cape and Islands.

What We Do:
Regular monthly meetings range in content from hands-on activities, guest artists and lectures, demonstrations of best practice to arts advocacy. Additional events include our annual college Portfolio Day, a cape-wide student art exhibit, a professional development day, and an exhibition of educators own work at the CCMA. We also participate in the School-to-Careers Art Internship Program, the annual Cape Wide Arts Collaborative Conference and the annual Family Day at CCMA.

Where We Meet:
Meetings are typically held at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, MA. Occasionally, meetings are held at off-site locations like area schools and other cultural institutions.

When We Meet:
Meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of every month from September to May with the exceptions being those months with school vacations. Meetings are then scheduled for the week prior to or following school breaks. Meetings run from 4-6 pm. Our May meeting is a celebration of the Art Intern student work at a reception at the CCMA beginning at 5:30 pm. The Advisory Board meets monthly and posts minutes for membership review.

Why We Do This:
We are devoted to the nurturing and support of the goals and aspirations of art educators in the Cape and Islands region. We believe that sharing work and life experience actively encourages the social, intellectual and creative growth that enhances our classroom performance and enriches the content we provide our students.  We are devoted to finding avenues of ongoing educational opportunities for ourselves and our community. We also believe that as a collective group we can speak with a clear and weighty voice to those issues directly impacting the access to and quality of art education across the region.
