NEXT MEETING Thurs. Feb 16th at Bourne Middle School: meet the faculty and tour the facilities. We'll review our web site, see responses to 5 question survey and continue our passionate dialog on teacher contracts, assessment, airport art and more!

This Friday, Jan 27 5-7 is the opening for "Creativity Flows." Even if you are not participating in the exhibition, support your colleagues by showing up, bringing food, getting the word out. Bring printed Artist bios/vitae Friday to update our members gallery notebook.

CCIAEA Member Meeting Minutes, January 19, 2012 @ BHS

Business:
1. Anne Schmirna spoke to us about the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Wildlife Santuary art contest and passed out informational brochures: http://stellwagen.noaa.gov/education/contests.html
2. Artist members delivered files for CCIAEA web gallery 1-2 images, name of artist, title of work, size, medium (jpegs)
3. Announced Artist cooperative in Falmouth (forward from Jane Baker, Falmouth High, see below)
Folks at meeting wondering if Falmouth Art Educators can get reinvolved with the group.
4. Reviewed Survey 5 questions. Please email or bring responses to Feb meeting in Bourne

Advisory Board would also appreciate your input.

To better serve the membership and plan more effectively for the 2012-13 please take a moment to respond to these questions. Send your responses to leeweill@verizon.net by Feb 10. Your responses will be reviewed by the Advisory Board at our February meeting. We are also trying to get these questions posted on our webiste using "survery monkey". If you want to remain anyonymous, you can write/print responses at our Thursday meeting or send these to me at Barnstable High School, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601

Reminder that Falmouth Art Center Show will be happening March 7-25. Debby Greenwood will send out entry form file that will be posted on web site.
Wellfleet Preservation Hall and other show possibilities discussed.
6. I would like to offer an Anime class on Thursday afternoons, 4:00-5:30 or so at Cotuit Center for the Arts in March- April. Is anyone interested or do you know of anyone? Thanks,

7. Passed out the Art Rubic used for Assessment at BHS based on guide from Duxbury High. Will get this rubric published to the CCIAEA website by Feb meeting.
8. Linda McNeill-Kemp asked that we start thinking about Professional Inservice Day in October as coordination has to take place in the spring.
9. Linda McNeill-Kemp will be pulling together classes for Spring/Summer catalog. If any art educators would be interested in teaching, please contact Linda.
10. "Through Young Eyes" student show a big hit. CCMOA sends our members a BIG THANK YOU for picking work up on time!!
11. Maria Reed at Barnstable High is requesting help compiling info for MASSCORE: what do you teach? how often? number of students? minutes per class? How often per week? etc...
12. Send positive energy and best wishes to MaryEllen MacDonald as she and her husband Robert navigate some medical challenges. MaryEllen sends her regards to the group and misses the meetings as much as we miss her being involved.
13. Energetic discussion started re: Sandwich contract negotiations. Peter Mann provided input/clarification. Marcia Simpson mentioned the upcoming "Open Forum" at School Committee. Membership wants to advocate for our colleagues. Dan Springer volunteered to draft a letter. Members also expressed willingness to go to the "Open Forum" in person to show support in person.
14. Discussion about airport request for artist work in the new terminal: There will be an update on this at February meeting and new RFQ being sent to artists.
15. Limoliner a great way to get from Hilton Boston to Hilton NYC for upcoming convention in style and comfort. Check out their website and look for coupon discounts.

We adjourned the business portion of our meeting and headed to the Mac workstations to check out our Facebook page!! Tom Noonan showed us the page and postings he has created for us. Members then created logins and passwords so they too, could actively post info to the CCIAEA Facebook page. We learned alot and were happy to work with five BHS Graphic Design students who helped members navigate the technology and get on board! We ran out of time and didn't get in depth with CCIAEA web site...awe'll continue at Bourne Middle School in Feb!
